Please bear in mind that festivities in Bilbao will be held from 20-28 August. In order to select the hotel that suits your needs best, please check their location since there are two main areas: Barakaldo, a clam area where the GA takes place and Bilbao, located closer to the festivities and well linked to the venue (15 minutes by public transport).
The demand for accommodation during these dates is very high, so we advise you to make your accommodation reservations as soon as possible.
The Organising Committee has appointed several hotels as our official partners to manage hotel bookings for delegates attending the General Assembly (marked on the map in red).
These hotels provide special conditions for the event. There is one hotel located in Barakaldo (the quiet area) and the rest are in Bilbao. Also, we suggest some alternative options in case that those appointed don’t suit your needs, but keep in mind that there are no special conditions agreed with them.

Additionally, another interesting option in a nice and calm area could be the Palacio de Oriol Hotel. It is a nice hotel, with a nearby metro station with a short travel to the venue.
Bilbao will celebrate their main festivity during this week. Aste Nagusia de Bilbao (Bilbao's Big Week) festivities will take over the city streets of Bilbao and thousands of people will meet on the streets to enjoy the lively atmosphere and the numerous cultural activities available on the festival programme.
Festivities and events will spread over the city, but they are more concentrated in specific areas. Thus, if you are foreseen to book accommodation in Bilbao, please bear in mind that you have the choice of different accommodation areas and hotels to suit your preferences and enjoy festivities in your own way.
To help you choose the best accommodation, we would like to give some additional information about the different city areas and how they are affected by the festivities. Broadly, you can find 3 different zones: (1) festivity area, (2) intermediate area and (3) calm area (see the map below).

Area 2: Intermediate area
This is an intermediate area, not as busy as first area but still quite crowded. You can still have some noises, especially with fireworks, launched in this area every night at 22:30h. You can find a wide range of terraces and restaurants but booking them can present some difficulties.
Guggenheim Museum is in this area but Euskalduna palace, where the assembly dinner takes place, is further.
Area 3: Festivity area
The closest to the Old Town thus the closest to the street party. Very busy area, you will have some noises and every night at 22:30 you have fireworks closeby. You have an endless range of options of eateries, terraces to drink wine or enjoy “pintxos”. However, you can find some difficulties booking places to eat. There is no shuttle but there is an underground station near, and you are in BEC in less than 30 minutes. In this area you can find Abando hotel with special conditions.
This area is further from the Guggenhaim Museum and Euskalduna palace, where the assembly dinner takes place.

Moreover, you can even have more options we can recommend If you want to be in a calm place. If you enjoy the sea and beaches, close to the seaside and only 15 minutes by car to BEC is Getxo. There is an underground to go to Bilbao and BEC in 30/40 minutes. Another choice is Deusto neighborhood. You are halfway between the city center and the BEC with good connection by underground, you can reach BEC in 10-20 minutes.

Note: For those wishing to book tourist accomodation, we also recommend the Deusto zone, which is a relaxing area of the city. Although it is a little farther from the area where the event will be held there are very good local amenities as well as underground stations. It is well connected to both the BEC and Bilbao.
